| Bellevue is located in in King County, Washington, across Lake Washington and approximately 1.5 miles from Seattle. Although known as a satellite city of Seattle, it is now categorized as an edge city. Its offical Census population in 2000 was 109, 569 with an estimated population growth of 7.9% to approximately 118,000 people. Bellevue is undergoing lots of changed including development of Downtown Bellevue's Lincoln Square and the new City Hall and expected growth with additional high-rises, either residential, commercial or retail spaces.. EDUCATION Students in Bellevue are part of the Bellevue School District with numerous elementary and middle school levels within both the public and private school systems; it has four main public high schools including Bellevue High School, Interlake High School, Newport High School, and Sammamish High School, two alternative high schools, International School and Robinswood High School, and several private high schools. Post-secondary education is available within Bellevue at both the Bellevue Community College (BCC) and City University. BCC is the largest community college in Washington and the third largest institution of higher education in Washington State.
RECREATION Besides Bellevue Square, there are three major shopping centers in Bellevue including Factoria Mall, Crossroads Mall, and the Overlake Shopping District. There are lots of great opportunities for golfers in Bellevue, including the Village Greens Golf Course, Bellevue Golf Course, Tom-O-Shanter Golf Course, and the Glendale Country Club. Outdoor activities are popular in Bellevue and there is access to parks within Bellevue including North Towne Park, Hillaire Park, Ardmore Park, Chesterfield Park, to name a few and access to Bellevue's own beach - Rosemont Beach.
